Train Ride

I've been longing to get out of the country, and this image brings many memories of train rides in and out of the Italian countryside. I can't believe it's been five years! There's something really magical about watching the world travel by through the window of a train car...don't you think?

I can't help it!

My man suggested that my posts are too food focused lately...I honestly cannot help it!

Photography and Brownies!

The other day my mom and I drove up to LA to visit the Annenberg Space for Photography.  The exhibit was spectacular, and the building itself is pretty awesome! It's a small, but modern, one-story hidden behind the new CAA building. I would have never known it even existed had it not been for an advertisement in LA Magazine!  I would definitely recommend a visit for anyone looking for a cool cultural experience (Oh, and admission is FREE!).

Anyways, we stupidly decided to drive home at 3pm on a Friday afternoon. If anyone has ever driven on the 5 or the 405 on a Friday afternoon...you know what I'm getting at here...TRAFFIC! We spent the three hour drive (more like crawl) back to Orange County talking about all of the baked goods we were craving...haha! By the time we got home, it was decided that one of us was going to have to make some brownies!

2/3 c unsalted butter
2 c sugar
1/4 c water
1 tsp vanilla
3 c chocolate chips
4 eggs
1 1/2 c flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
12 tsp salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
In a saucepan, melt butter, sugar and water.
Remove from heat.
Add vanilla and chocolate chips.
Add one egg at a time.
Blend in flour, baking soda, and salt.
Pour mixture into a greased baking dish.
Bake for 20-30 minutes.

(I added a cup of walnuts to ours!)

Photo Recap

Ciao! Come stai? I apologize for my absence, and I promise to post more frequently in the very near future! In the meantime, here is a photo-recap of sorts. (Ladies night, Pink Martini w/ the Pacific Symphony, Mexico adventures and dancing in the fountain at the K&V wedding...and yes, I'm wearing the same dress! haha)

Springtime!

Today was the first day of my spring break! It rained all morning, but the sun finally broke through the clouds just in time for an afternoon bike ride. So, I rode to one of my favorite places to be during springtime! Isn't it lovely!

Biscuits!

There I was watching "Throwdown with Bobby Flay" on the Food Network, when my mouth literally began to water at the sight of his flakey golden biscuits! In that moment I needed (it was far beyond the desire of want) a warm biscuit with butter and blackberry jam!
